OXOID
Oxoid™ XLD Agar (500g) is a selective and differential medium used for the isolation and differentiation of enteric Gram-negative bacteria, particularly Salmonella and Shigella species, from clinical, environmental, and food samples. XLD (Xylose Lysine Deoxycholate) Agar contains xylose and lactose for carbohydrate fermentation, along with sodium thiosulphate and ferric ammonium citrate to detect hydrogen sulphide (H2S) production. The medium also contains deoxycholate to inhibit Gram-positive organisms, allowing for the growth of enteric pathogens.
